Ada Joann Hayes Ellis

ADA JOANN HAYES ELLIS, 78, of Chesapeake, OH, wife of Bobby Ray Ellis, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. She was born June 29, 1933, a daughter of the late Carl and Charlene Pemberton Hayes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Herbert and Beula Hughes Ellis; and her brother-in-law, Kenneth Keeney. In addition to her husband Bobby, she is survived by one son, Dennis R. (Cheryl) Ellis of Hurricane, WV; one daughter, Jana R. Nicholas of Chesapeake, OH; her grandchildren, Grant Ellis, Jordan (Matt) Faulkner, Jared Nicholas, and Sydney Nicholas; her brother, John W. (Hilda) Hayes, II; her sister, Lois (Gene) Nance; her sister-in-law, Carol Kilgore; and her nieces and nephews, Ginger Nance, Gene Nance, Jr., Sandra Nance, John W. (Angie) Hayes, III, David Hayes, Jerycka Hayes, and Karen (Bill) Clark. Joann taught various Sunday School classes and worked in Vacation Bible School at both Symmes Creek Baptist Church and Big Branch Church for several years. She played the piano at the Sybene Baptist Church and Sybene Senior Citizens' Center in recent years. She was a faithful member of Big Branch Church, Chesapeake, OH, for over 40 years. Our Mother was a faithful follower of her Lord since a child. Words can't express what a wonderful mother and wife she has been and what an example of Christian faith she set for her children, grandchildren, and relatives; truly a fine lady. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service which begins at 4 PM Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Langdon Cemetery, Getaway, OH.
