Christine Crager Hardy

Christine Crager Hardy, age 85, died in Pedro, Ohio at the home of her gracious caregivers Kevin and Louise Delawder. When you look for everyday heros, you can look no further than the faces of Kevin and Louise; they are the epitome of the Good Samaritans or the angels that dwell among us. Christine was a 1954 graduate of South Point High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Paul Vernon Hardy and enjoyed 26 lovely years together. Christine loved to cook for her friends, family, and church; sew - always creating award winning Halloween costumes at Walmart where she worked for 28 years, listen to religious bluegrass music, especially music performed by Doyle Lawson, and attend her beloved church, Loraine Street Gospel Mission Church in Ironton, Ohio where she was a member for over 30 years. She is survived by her two sons Christi A., his wife Teresa, and Thomas E. Hardy, grandson Patrick and wife Leslie Kouns, two granddaughters, Laila and Lucy and a new baby boy Leland; 7 brothers and sisters; Betty Adams Price and husband Larry, Jewel Jordan, Diane Woods and husband Rick, James and wife Carmen, David and wife Karen Faye, Earl, and Danny and wife Nancy Crager; numerous nieces and nephews with a special sister niece Nancy and her husband David Church and niece Cheryl Adams Moreno. Chris was preceded in death by her mother and father Richard and Elizabeth McCloud Crager, husband Paul Vernon, daughter Paula Elaine and her husband David Kouns, three sisters Pauline McComas, Janis Crager, and Joyce Holder and two brothers Kenneth and Edward Crager. The family also wants to acknowledge, praise, and thank the great work of the Ashland/Ironton Community Hospice staff. They were so gracious and kind in helping Christine transition to the other side to go live in the beautiful mansion prepared for her. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday April 15, 2022 at Lorain Street Gospel Mission Church, 330 Lorain Street, Ironton, Ohio 45638. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday April 15, 2022, at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church. Schneider-Hall Funeral Home Chesapeake, Ohio is assisting the family with arrangements.
