MARGARET EVANS

Margaret Evans, 99, formerly of South Point, OH, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Woodland Oaks Healthcare Facility in Ashland, KY. Margie was born in Hubbell, WV, daughter of the late Howard W. and Clara Price Evans. She was preceded in death by all five of her siblings, Roberts Evans (infant), Eloise Shafer, Tommy Evans, Lois Ray and Kenneth Evans. Margie never married or had children of her own as she dedicated her younger years to caring for her parents and some of her siblings. She attended Wayne County schools, going on to work for the Polan family of businesses for 30 years, as an operator and then as a bookkeeper. She then moved on to Commercial Refrigeration Service for another 20 years as the office manager. She was baptized September 13, 1981, at Lockdale Church of God and remained a member there until her death. A lover of sports, Margie was a dedicated fan of Cincinnati Reds baseball, Marshall University football and the Minnesota Vikings while Randy Moss played for them. She is survived by nieces and nephews: Carol (Truman) Jarvis of Ironton, Ohio, Rebecca (Lee) Bumgarner of Statesville, NC, Jim Ray of Chillicothe, OH and Mark (Melissa) Ray of Kennesaw, GA; cousins, Rick Evans of Huntington, WV and Judy Evans Midkiff of Pawleys Island, SC; sister-in-law, Pat Evans of Foley, AL and numerous great nephews and nieces and great-great nephews and nieces. A funeral service will be held at Schneider-Hall Funeral Home in Chesapeake, OH on Saturday, November 12, 2022. Visitation will be from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm with a short service at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Margie's memory to Community Hospice, 1480 Carter Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101 The family would also like to send a special Thank You to the nurses and staff at Woodland Oaks Healthcare Facility for the love, friendship and care they gave Margie in her final years and also to Darlene Krantz and Bobby Lester who visited her faithfully.
