Mary Ruth Stier

Mary Ruth Stier passed away on Monday, April 24th, 2023, at the age of 75 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. She was known as "Boofy" to her grandchildren and many beloved family members. She is survived by her three children Kimberley Perry Williamson, James Perry (Kelli), and Joe Perry (Amanda); her grandchildren, Alex Williamson, J.T. Perry, Sebrena Williamson, Haylee Dunlap (Nate), Kylee Howard, Taylor McDaniel, and Tyler McDaniel; and her siblings Richard Fuller and Patsy Cartwright Bolen.Mary Ruth Stier was proud to be from "out Wayne," and cherished her upbringing in the beautiful natural country of the Wayne area. When she was 18, she traveled to Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she had on the job training to become an OR Tech and made many lifelong friends. When she returned to the Huntington area, she worked at Huntington Hospital and Cabell Huntington Hospital, and retired from Cabell Huntington Surgery Center. Her work as an OR Tech was an accomplishment that she was deeply proud of, and something she was praised for within the local medical community.Throughout her life, Mary Ruth's church family and her faith were a great source of love. She was a member of the Guyandotte Church of Christ and later, the Beverly Hills Church of Christ. Her family, moreover, was her greatest source of love. She was very active in her children's and grandchildren's lives, and was Home Room Mother, Campfire Girl Leader, Boy Scout Leader, and one of Gallaher Street's kid wranglers. In her later years, she spent her time in church and traveling with her children and grandchildren.The family will miss her special sense of humor, her made-with-love recipes, and her love for adventure and travel. As the family matriarch, her determination, poise, intelligence and strength paved the way for future generations within her family. Her family is at peace knowing that she will be surrounded by her many loved ones, especially her "sisters," Gail Kennedy and Clara "Cloie" Furry.The family is very thankful for the care and attention Boofy received from the staff at Paramount Senior Living, where she was a resident for two years. The family is also thankful for the peace and serenity that the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington provided in her final transition. We love you Boofy, and please give our loved ones a hug for us.There will be an informal memorial for friends and family at Beverly Hills Church of Christ, on Friday, April 28th, 2023, at 6pm EST. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Beverly Hills Church of Christ. Schneider-Hall Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
