THOMAS B. WORKMAN, 85, of Chesapeake, OH, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, May 17, 2012, in River's Bend Health Care where he was a resident for the past 7 years. Graveside service will be 11 AM Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Union Hill Cemetery with Pastor Chuck Case officiating. Burial will follow. Tom was born November 1, 1926, in Madison, WV, a son of the late Basil and Dorothy Linville Workman. He was an active member of Chesapeake United Methodist Church, a World War II Navy veteran, and received his B.B.A. from Marshall University. Tom loved to sing and was a charter member of the Huntington Barbershop Chapter. He was an avid golfer and played golf on the Marshall Golf team. Shortly after attending Marshall University, he was employed by the Medical Arts Supply Company in Huntington, WV. He eventually became a partner of the business before it was sold to General Medical. He started a second career as a branch manager for the First National Bank of Chesapeake. In 1987 he changed careers once again and purchased an insurance agency in Proctorville, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Juanita Hensley. Tom is survived by his wife, Hazel Johnson Workman; three sons, Theodore "Ted" Workman, Mark Workman and his wife, Patty, and Russell Bruce Workman; five grandchildren, Tricia, Mark II, Elizabeth, Ryan, and Morgan; and two great grandchildren. There will be no visitation. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of River's Bend Health Care for the care, compassion, and concern they showed Tom during his residency. In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to be made to Hospice of Huntington or Chesapeake United Methodist Church.
